Everybody Hoops 2012 Episode 5 NBA PLAYOFF POD w/ Brian Dernulc

April 30, 2012 @ 9:59 pm

As always I am joined by Brian Dernulc, who you can follow on twitter @BDernulc. We go over the NBA playoffs and make our predictions all the way through the finals. Although the playoffs technically started on Saturday it is actually a good thing we waited until today as the injury to Derrick Rose has definitely shaken up things in the Eastern Conference and played a part in some minor adjustments in our picks. After all of that Brian and I engage one another in a thought-provoking debate over who the true stars are in the NBA, if there are different levels of stars, what constitutes a star in today’s NBA and whether we agree on who those individuals are. This is a fun episode of Everybody Hoops that you do NOT want to miss!

Ep 63 w/ Cash Cab’s BEN BAILEY

April 11, 2012 @ 10:04 am

True or False: You have spent more time watching Cash Cab over the years than Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy combined. Now, this might be due to the fact that Cash Cab often runs in blocks of four or five episodes and appears throughout the day in various spots during the week OR... it could be because Cash Cab is the defining game show of the last ten years and the most beloved Q&A style television show for a whole new generation of coach potatoes. Ben Bailey, the man who asks the questions and drives the cab, started as a standup comedian, a craft he still holds close to his heart to this day. Ben joins me to talk about how he got started in comedy, how that turned into hosting game shows like Cash Cab and Who’s Still Standing on NBC and how he balances the two. Ben then also shares some of the ins and outs of everybody’s favorite mobile game show, including how the show works behind the scenes and funny and incredible stories that may or may not have made the air! A great podcast you do NOT want to miss! Ben will be performing at Treehouse Comedy at Mohegan Sun in CT on April 28th and you can get tickets HERE!

Ep 62 w/ CAKE Frontman JOHN McCREA

April 3, 2012 @ 3:08 pm

John McCrea and his band Cake have managed to pull off an impossible feat in today’s day and age. After coming onto the scene in the early 90’s during the heart of the grunge boom, Cake stuck to their guns and crafted their own sound, a sound that did not fit perfectly with the other alternative rock that was ruling the world at that time. Their songs “Short Skirt, Long Jacket”, “The Distance”, “Never There” and most recently “Long Time” from their newest record titled Showroom of Compassion are unforgettable tracks that amuse the senses while captivating the imagination. Vocalist and songwriter John McCrea joins me to talk about the key to their longevity, why their songs work so well in movies and television, their iconic album covers and much more! Cake are swinging through the Palace Theater in Waterbury, CT. on May the 9th! Get your tickets online!
