Ep18 w/ SCOTT STAPP FROM CREED!!!

February 10, 2011 @ 4:09 pm

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a HUGE Creed fan. It was my pleasure to be joined by Creed frontman Scott Stapp for a chat about Creed's latest album, his current acoustic solo tour and he even talks about some of the altercations with other bands he's gotten into and why he cut off all his hair. We talk about BULLETS, possibly my favorite Creed song and what other songs you'll hear at his upcoming show in Ridgefield, CT. on 4/14 For more tour dates go to http://www.scottstappofficial.com

Great interview brother… thank you very much. Well done. You made an awesome point about the songs that were selected as singles. Could have been much better, I agree. Funny how Scott said Bread of Shame was his choice as first single. That was a very nice little nugget there.

Moreover, I had never heard asked anyone ask him if he was a fan of Alterbridge. You can tell the answer was quite guarded and limited - but of course he was very courteous as always.

It has to be tough to see your band mates with another lead singer (especially someone as amazingly-talented as Myles Kennedy). That lingering thought must always be there: “what if Alterbridge gets huge and they decide not to come back?” I would certainly be having those thoughts in his position. And vice versa with Myles. It must be a very odd situation for Mark, Flip and Brian. How long can they keep up the “two-band” structure?

I mean, these guys must be freakin’ exhausted. Recording and touring behind Full Circle, then doing the same for ABIII. And now going back to Creed for another round? It’s gotta be tough. I do not see how they (at least Mark, Flip and Brian) can keep this up indefinitely. Or maybe they will? I just wish them the best. I would hate any of them to simply burn out. The way I see it, Creed is just getting started!

I love your mention of the acoustic setting and how it gives Scott an opportunity to “story-tell” about the songs and how they were made. I’d love to hear some of his comments about these songs. Play the acoustic version of “Bullets”? That would be interesting. lol

Finally, I like Scott’s talk about his Christianity and how he clarified that he is an “artist,” but that does not mean that he feels a call to write “Christian” songs, proselytize or turn Creed into a Christian band. He did, however, leave the door open to possibly singing more Christian-based songs in the future. He was very gracious admitting how his “rock star ego” has a lot to do with the problems he had with other bands in the 1990’s… and it sounds like he definitely shaved his head again! LOL

Again, thank you for this interview brother. You kicked ass; You have a real skill as an interviewer which is rare. Keep it up, God bless… :-)
